Welcome to my worlds

My art uses small, lidded tins (Alltoid’s-type) to play with both 2-D and 3-D space. I make my small boxes by adhering original photographs to the tin bottoms and use oil paint to extend the images up and over the sides to create depth. I overlay the photos with layers of small found objects, molded polymer clay, more photos, and decorative elements. I complete each work by pouring art resin into and over them for a watery wash. The art resin is VOC and BPA free.

In this way I create small diptychs related by color, feel, or location. Their small size invites the viewer to peer into the world of the object to decipher the images within. In most of them I include gilded human figures, alone or in interaction. The space and the figures together suggest an untold story for the viewer to imagine and engage in. The implied stories range from political statements to fairy tales, playful antics, soulful interactions, and peaceful safe spaces. Please see the entire collection on Instagram at @tinned_art.
